Note: Pound cakes are delicious, but this fudge pound cake is so good you might not want to share with your family.
Fudge Pound Cake
Ingredients
1/2 lb. butter
1/2 cup Crisco shortening
3 cups sugar
5 eggs
3 cups flour
1/2 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. salt
1/2 cup cocoa
1 cup milk
1 T. vanilla
Fudge Icing:
1/4 cup butter
2 squares unsweetened chocolate
1 lb. powdered sugar
1 T. vanilla
Pet milk
Directions
Cream butter, shortening and sugar. Add eggs, one at a time, beating
after each addition. Sift dry ingredients and add alternately with milk.
Add vanilla. Bake in a greased and floured tube pan at 275 degrees for 1
hour then at 300 degrees for 1 hour. Ice with Fudge Icing (recipe
below).
Fudge Icing:
Melt butter and chocolate. Add to sugar and vanilla. Add milk to desired
consistency. Beat well. Pour over cake.
